Union Gospel Mission Duluth Annual Report Fiscal Year End 9/30/2009 Summary.

 

Established in 1922 to help the needy by providing food, shelter and hope.

 

Union Gospel Mission Duluth has established itself as a haven for the needy and a source of the benefits outlined.  The need is apparent from the large volume we serve daily and have served over the years.  Our On-site statistics cast an average of 4 new people on every 3-meal day we have. We serve the Duluth MN and the surrounding area.

 

In FYE 2009 we served 83,400 meals at our on-site facility. Our unduplicated count is 1,668 individuals having meals with us in 2009. Fiscal Year End 2009 Cost is $304,766. This breaks down to food cost of $.46 per meal, delivery cost of $3.07 per meal.

 

UGM Duluth provided 1,846 food baskets in 2009. Fiscal Year End 2009 cost is $96,403 This breaks down to a food cost of $8.83 per average 44 lb basket, delivery cost of $43.39 per 21 meal basket.

 

UGM provided 1,228 once-a-year only hygiene kits helping 2,675 people. Also we provided 194 blankets, 317 winter coats. We provided school supplies in backpacks to 400 children. Our Christmas party provided gifts to 202 children. Fiscal Year Cost 2009 was $69,728.

 

UGM/Martin Hotel has 12 Section 8 SRO rooms, 7 low-income and 1 emergency room with two beds. We provided shelter to 43 individuals in 2009. Fiscal Year End 2009 Cost was $24,534.

 

Other activities include Bible studies, AA groups, NA group, Gamblers Intervention, all types of referrals, men’s and women’s fellowship groups, children’s summer camp.

 

Management and general. Fiscal Year End 2009 Cost is $79,809.

 

Fundraising. We direct mail seven times a year. Fiscal Year End 2009 Cost is $34,164.

 

We are Audited annually. Our Federal 990 is posted at Guidestar.com.

 

UGM in March 2009 completed the Charities Review Council’s, Charity Accountability Wizard and qualified for the second three year cycle.
